Alex’s long experience with Drupal starts like many others - where he fell into it almost by accident. From his beginnings as a ‘dumpster diver’ in the issue queue, to becoming an organizer for Drupal Camp NYC, Alex has contributed to Drupal and the community in significant ways. Join Tag1 Managing Director Michael Meyers as he and Alex talk about the history of NYC Drupal Camp, Alex’s journey with and beyond Drupal, and the ups and downs of the changes that have come to Drupal over the last 20 years. You’ll also hear about being a module owner and maintainer, and get a first-hand account of working with the Drupal Security team! --- For a transcript of this video, see Transcript - 20 years of Drupal with Alex Ross. --- ## Additional links These are some of the prominent modules Alex has worked on or maintains: - reCaptcha - DART - Advanced image crop - Akamai ESI Photo by Juan Pablo Mascanfroni on Unsplash

lynette@tag1co… Tue, 08/16/2022 - 05:22 Tue, 16 Aug 2022 12:22:07 +0000 lynette@tag1consulting.com 436 at https://www.tag1consulting.com Greg Dunlap talks pinball, Core Initiatives, and the future of Drupal https://www.tag1consulting.com/blog/greg-dunlap-talks-pinball-core-initiatives-and-future-drupal

Greg Dunlap (aka gdd or heyrocker), former Drupal Initiative lead and pinball enthusiast and current Director of Strategy at Lullabot, joins Tag1 Consulting’s Managing Director Michael Meyers in this Tag1 Team Talk in our 20 years of Drupal series. Greg is another individual who took an unusual route into programming and open source work with projects like Drupal. Over 15 years, Greg’s experience in Drupal has led him from one US coast to the other, and across the world to Sweden. While Greg started programming in high school, his experiences have taken him through photography and photojournalism, building slot and pinball machines, and then into Open Source software. In this interview, Michael and Greg talk about the differences between Greg’s early experiences and the Drupal project, how things have changed, and the future of Drupal. Greg also talks about his time as the Drupal initiative lead for Configuration Management (CMI), and the ups and downs of that work. --- For a transcript of this video, see Transcript - 20 years of Drupal with Greg Dunlap. --- Photo by Heather McKean on Unsplash.

lynette@tag1co… Wed, 07/13/2022 - 11:42 Wed, 13 Jul 2022 18:42:48 +0000 lynette@tag1consulting.com 433 at https://www.tag1consulting.com D6LTS wind down and D7 extension with Tim Lehnen https://www.tag1consulting.com/blog/d6lts-wind-down-and-d7-extension-tim-lehnen

The last two years have been eventful for most of us, and the Drupal community is no exception to that. Given the large user base, this was subsequently extended to Nov. 2021. Then, to provide relief and support for everyone impacted by the pandemic Drupal 7 End of Life was extended another year, to Nov. 2022. The pandemic continues to have a major impact on our lives and our businesses and there continues to be a very large user base with over 550,000 websites running the framework - an awesome testament to how great of a platform it is. As such, the security team, and the founder of Drupal, as well as Tag1 and the other Drupal 7 Extended Support (D7ES) providers, felt extending the date another year was the best thing for Drupal and the Drupal community. To support the community, leadership has decided that D7 EOL will be postponed again, until Nov. 2023, and then re-assessed annually thereafter. As people, companies, communities, and governments continue to strive to meet the challenges posed by this exceptionally difficult year, we continue to work together to complete common goals. Here at Tag1, we keep working to face the issues our customers, and the world have to take on. We’ve covered a lot of topics in our blog this year - from the changes we’ve all had to make to revisiting the history of Drupal, and pressing forward in our continued support of Open Source Software. ## Open Source Software This year, Tag1 became the first Silver Sponsor of the Rust Association. Just as we sponsor team members and other work for the Drupal Association to continue to promote Drupal, Tag1 sponsors Rust to help ensure its continued success. We build our websites on Drupal, and we can test them with Goose, our Rust-based software testing suite. ## Open Source Leadership We’ve also been fortunate enough to talk with several leaders of open source projects, Marijn Haverbeke of Codemirror and Kevin Jahns of Yjs gave us a view...

lynette@tag1co… Wed, 01/19/2022 - 09:20 Wed, 19 Jan 2022 17:20:59 +0000 lynette@tag1consulting.com 425 at https://www.tag1consulting.com Dawn Aly talks design, Drupal, and the community https://www.tag1consulting.com/blog/dawn-aly-talks-design-drupal-and-community

Developers aren’t the only people involved in making Drupal great.
