These may be projects that benefit us in our day to day work, libraries that we leverage to build on our main project, or software we end up using in our personal lives, for projects that we do strictly for our own purposes. Tag1, being a company based on using open source software, uses a variety of software based on the day to day work of our team, and the needs of our clients. This software ranges from Drupal itself, to the underlying software it uses, to the testing software, and IDEs and plugins we use to help create quality code and content. ## Drupal We all know Drupal is open source, and one of the largest CMS projects out there. It relies on a variety of other open source software as well - MySQL, PHP, Composer, Symfony, and so on. Some parts of Drupal make use of additional libraries that fulfill needs that would otherwise go unmet. ## Load testing No well-trafficked...

lynette@tag1co… Tue, 08/10/2021 - 11:36 Tue, 10 Aug 2021 18:36:22 +0000 lynette@tag1consulting.com 389 at https://www.tag1consulting.com Upgrade tools to get you moving to Drupal 9 https://www.tag1consulting.com/blog/upgrade-tools-get-you-moving-drupal-9

As the end of life (EOL) for Drupal 7 and Drupal 8 get closer, many long-time users of these platforms are concerned about whether they’ll be ready or able to upgrade their systems. While upgrading from Drupal 8 to Drupal 9 should be the easiest major Drupal upgrade ever, the upgrade from Drupal 7 remains a hard sticking point for many users and companies.

lynette@tag1co… Wed, 01/27/2021 - 13:51 Wed, 27 Jan 2021 21:51:01 +0000 lynette@tag1consulting.com 275 at https://www.tag1consulting.com Real-time collaboration and the future of web applications https://www.tag1consulting.com/blog/real-time-collaboration-and-future-web-applications

Peta Hoyes, COO, and Fabian Franz, Vice President of Software Engineering, of Tag1 Consulting discuss how teams are working collaboratively in real time and asynchronously more than ever before. Content management systems (CMS) need to meet the needs of users, but to date no system offers real time collaboration, because building collaborative software is extremely complex. Yjs, a real-time collaboration framework abstracts all this complexity, allowing you to enable collaboration in any application. Working with the author of Yjs, Tag1 integrated real-time shared editing into Drupal and WordPress. In this talk, Peta and Fabian discuss the spectrum of collaborative applications, how we integrated collaborative editing into WordPress and Drupal, and demo the applications. As we face the challenges of the global novel coronavirus pandemic, Peta feels that expanding on the tools that remote users already use is critical for the continued success of businesses in the future. Asynchronous tools have been the staple of collaboration, meeting a plethora of needs. While synchronous communication is a backup, there is a space where those tools don’t match up. Peta brings a strong focus on how a modern content management system works, with an explanation of how CMSs still aren’t meeting the collaborative...

lynette@tag1co… Mon, 11/16/2020 - 05:26 Mon, 16 Nov 2020 13:26:46 +0000 lynette@tag1consulting.com 242 at https://www.tag1consulting.com Git basics keep you on track https://www.tag1consulting.com/blog/git-basics-keep-you-track

In his Drupal4Gov webinar Using tools and Git workflow best practices to simplify your local development, Greg Lund-Chaix, Senior Infrastructure Engineer at Tag1, talks about some of the ways that teams struggle when they become successful and need to learn to scale.
